Linen Care Guide

Simple practices for exceptional longevity.
Folded linen

Low Maintenance,
High Reward

Linen doesn't require complex rituals. In fact, its charm lies in its unstudied elegance. Thoughtful, gentle care is all it takes to preserve its beauty wash after wash.

Unlike synthetic fabrics, high-quality flax linen is built to endure, naturally resisting wear while becoming more supple with time.

  • Naturally antibacterial
  • Highly breathable
  • Softens over time
"Linen asks for little, yet gives so much. We simply learned to treat it with the respect it deserves."

— The Hera Philosophy

The Care Ritual

Four simple steps to ensure generations of use.

01

Washing

Machine wash on a gentle cycle using cool or lukewarm water. Heat and high agitation weaken the natural flax fibers. Always wash colors separately.

02

Detergents

Use a mild, liquid detergent. Avoid bleach, optical brighteners, and fabric softeners entirely—linen softens beautifully on its own over time.

03

Drying

Line drying in the shade is optimal. If using a dryer, tumble dry on the lowest heat setting and remove while slightly damp to prevent stiffness.

04

Storing

Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid plastic bags; instead, use the linen dust bags provided to allow the fabric to breathe while protected.

The Art of Aging

Each wash initiates a subtle transformation. The natural pectin that binds flax fibers gently dissolves over time, allowing the fabric to relax.

This is why heirloom linen possesses that coveted, buttery drape. Unlike cotton, which can degrade with frequent washing, linen finds its true character through routine care and use. Embrace the natural creases; they are the signature of authenticity.
